If your home was built between the early 90s and 2015, there is a good chance you have cast iron sewer lines running through or under your foundation. Cast iron was the standard back then. The problem is that it does not last forever - and when it starts to go, it usually fails where you cannot see it.
Here is what we were dealing with on this one. The homeowner had slow drains and that familiar chugging sound that tells you something is wrong underground. We ran a camera through the line and found exactly what we suspected - the cast iron had deteriorated and collapsed. The pipe was completely crushed. No amount of snaking or cleaning was going to fix that.
Once we confirmed the failure, we brought in the mini excavator and got to work. We laid down ground protection to keep the yard clean, dug down to expose the damaged section right at the foundation, and pulled the old pipe out. What came out of the ground was barely recognizable as pipe - just rusted, collapsed metal that had been slowly backing up the whole drain system.
We replaced the failed section with new PVC. Clean fittings, proper bedding, solid connections. PVC does not rust, it does not corrode, and it is not going to give you the same problems 20 years from now. It is the right material for the job and the right long-term fix for the homeowner.
If you are hearing chugging, dealing with slow drains, or just know your home is in that age range - do not wait for a full backup to force your hand. A sewer camera inspection tells you exactly what is going on before it turns into an emergency. Mention this ad when you call and we will take $50 off plus send you a digital video copy of the inspection.
